Apparently, I was the first person to be recruited by Merseyside Fire Brigade (22/4/1974)!!
Probably the Opening Ceremony with its mix of fire service activities like the procession of fire engines “through the ages”. Plus the sheer entertainment provided by the legendary Gerry Marsden, singing Ferry Cross The Mersey and You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Difficult to select only one, but I suppose it would have to be the friendliness and humour of the Scousers!
It’s got to be a trip on the Duck Tours Wacker Quacker. This is a World War 2 amphibious craft that takes you on a tour of the city and then plunges into the water to cruise through the docks, giving you a great view of the famous dock buildings and the new Liverpool Arena, which will be our Games Village. The commentary is very amusing too!
