Visual Impairment Awareness

WFG08 are delighted to work together with Bradbury Fields to raise the public’s awareness towards visual impairment via recruiting volunteers and support on long-term service development.

Bradbury Fields, the leading provider of services for blind and partially sighted people across Merseyside is delighted to be a partner of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service as part of the World Fire Fighter Games 2008.

We provide a wide range of social opportunities to blind and partially sighted people that require the support of sighted volunteers. We would welcome your support if you are interested in any of the following:

  • Walking Group: This group goes out twice monthly and enables blind and partially sighted people to go for walks in the country with sighted assistance. If you enjoy walking and seeing the sights we would love to hear from you. We are interested in walk leaders, minibus drivers as well as people who just want to enjoy a good walk in good company.

  • Tandem Club: Bradbury Fields provides cycling experience for blind and partially sighted people through the use of tandem cycles. If you have an interest in cycling we can match you with a visually impaired person, provide training, cycles. The excursions take place on most Sundays during the summer. This is a great opportunity to meet people as well as get fit and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

  • Minibus Drivers: Do you have half a day a week that you could spare to drive our minibuses to enable blind and partially sighted people to come and enjoy our daytime activity clubs? We would love to hear from you.

If you are interested in any of the above, please contact Kathy Foy Volunteer Co-ordinator on 0151 221 0888 ext. 230.
